Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Chaff (deploychaff.com) collects and how it is used. Chaff is a browser tool that opens randomized product searches. It does not hide your activity from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or the sites you visit.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:
- Account data such as email address and profile details when you sign up (handled by Clerk)
- Billing data such as subscription status and Stripe customer identifiers. Payment card details are processed by Stripe, not stored on our servers
- Usage and technical data such as pages visited on our site, approximate location from IP, device/browser type, and basic logs needed to run and secure the Service
- Communications if you email or contact us
What we do not collect from Deploy
Search queries generated by Chaff run in your browser and go to third-party sites (such as Google). We do not receive a feed of those queries from your browser as part of normal Deploy operation. Your ISP and the search provider may still see that traffic.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate users and manage subscriptions
- Process payments and prevent fraud or abuse
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms
Sharing
We may share information with:
- Service providers such as Clerk (auth), Stripe (payments), and hosting/infrastructure vendors
- Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety
- Successors if the Service is sold or transferred, under appropriate protections
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and similar tech
We and our providers use cookies or similar technologies for sign-in sessions, security, and basic site function. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may break sign-in or billing. On first visit we also show a cookie banner so you can accept cookies or keep essential ones only. Data retention
We keep account and billing records as long as your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and dispute purposes. Logs are kept for a limited period unless a longer retention is required.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can update account details through your auth provider, manage billing in the Stripe customer portal, and request account deletion by contacting us. Some data may remain in backups or where we must keep it by law.
International users
The Service may be hosted in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries with different data laws.
Changes
We may update this Policy. The "Last updated" date will change when we do. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
